Try out the IIS FastCGI techical preview

As you know, we released the FastCGI technical preview this week, aimed at providing a fast and stable platform for running FastCGI applications like PHP.  Its been very popular, with more downloads then we have expected for the first week.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone trying this out.  By trying it out, and reporting issues, you are really helping us in working out the kinks and shipping a solid beta release for this feature.   We test the feature in house, but we can never reproduce the hundreds of different configurations that people have in the field.

This is especially important for this project, because of the sensitivity many CGI programs have to specific machine configuration and FastCGI server behavior.  Just this week, we have received a number of reports about PHP configuration issues that lead to problems, and posted workarounds for many of them.

If you are trying it out, please let us know how it goes – I created a poll that you can use to quickly let us know how your experience is going.

I also invite you to check out the forums for more information, and to report any problems you may encounter:

     – IIS 5.x / IIS6 FastCGI Forums

     – IIS7 FastCGI Forums

There, you can read about the latest updates, and the known issues / workarounds.
